Background
An engineer’s way of seeing a business
I trained as a chemical engineer, a discipline built around modeling systems: how the parts interact, where the constraints are, and how structure determines output. For the last six years I’ve been working directly with small business owners, applying that same toolkit to their businesses, and to building my own.
I didn’t set out to build a methodology. I kept running into the same pattern: owners working hard, trying reasonable things, and still stuck. Not because of effort, and not because of intelligence. Because nobody was analyzing the actual system producing the results.
The method
Refined through real application
The method comes from the work itself: real businesses, real problems, real application. I kept seeing where conventional approaches fall short, where advice, tactics, and even good coaching can’t solve what is fundamentally a structural issue. So I built something different: analysis where the unit isn’t the business alone or the owner alone, but the two treated as one connected system, because in a business like this, that’s what is actually running.
The pattern underneath it all: most owners know the pieces of their business cold, but the picture isn’t complete enough to reason from with confidence.
